Fire and smoke-resistant frames with certified conformity
When it comes to fire-rated frames, safety cannot depend solely on experience or on the product's appearance.
It is essential to ensure that the system used on site delivers the appropriate performance, is manufactured according to the applicable requirements, and is accompanied by the documentation needed to demonstrate its conformity.
Metallik is certified by SGS for the manufacture and installation of aluminium and steel frames with fire-resistance and/or smoke-control characteristics, in accordance with standards EN 14351-1:2006+A2:2016 and EN 16034:2014, and under Certificate of Constancy of Performance No. 1029-CPR-PT23/08726.

What do these standards mean?
EN 14351-1 sets out the performance characteristics applicable to windows and external pedestrian doorsets, such as air permeability, water tightness, resistance to wind load, thermal performance, acoustic performance, and durability.
EN 16034 specifies the characteristics related to fire resistance and/or smoke control. Possible classifications include integrity, thermal insulation, radiation limitation, and smoke leakage control, always in accordance with the system and performance actually tested and declared.
Why does fire-rated frame certification matter?
A fire-rated solution should not be assessed solely by the material used — steel, aluminium, or glass.
Performance in a fire depends on the system and its technical characteristics, including its ability to maintain the properties for which it was designed throughout the applicable classification period.
For this reason, in projects where fire safety is a determining factor, it is essential to work with systems whose conformity and performance are properly documented.
